KEVIN RANKIN FROM COWDENBEATH SENTENCED FOR DEATH THREATS TO EX-PARTNER

Kevin Rankin, a 52-year-old resident of Cowdenbeath, appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court to face sentencing after admitting to making a serious threat to his former partner. The incident in question occurred on February 4, when Rankin sent a series of abusive and menacing text messages to the woman he had previously been involved with.

According to the prosecution, represented by depute fiscal Amy Robertson, the couple had maintained a relationship for approximately four years, concluding in November of the previous year. By the end of their relationship, the woman described it as being “toxic,” indicating a period of significant distress and emotional turmoil.

On the day in question, Rankin sent a message to his ex-partner that read, “Hope you have a good night, tomorrow you’re dead, you slag.” This message caused the woman considerable fear and anxiety, prompting her to seek refuge at her mother’s house for the night to ensure her safety.

In response to the serious nature of the threats, Sheriff Garry Sutherland issued a structured deferred sentence that will be in effect until July 17. Additionally, Rankin was placed under a three-year non-harassment order, prohibiting him from contacting or approaching the woman to prevent further intimidation or threats.
