MALDON MAN ACCUSED OF SENDING INDECENT MESSAGES TO TEEN GIRLS
A man aged 65 named Kevin Lapwood from Maldon is accused of sending sexual messages to teenage girls. He appeared before Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and faces four charges related to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and causing a minor between 13 and 15 to view an image of sexual activity.
The defendant is alleged to have messaged four girls under the age of 16, stating he would 'kiss every inch of their beautiful bodies' and even asking one girl 'to be his wife when she leaves school.' Lapwood did not indicate whether he admitted or denied the charges.
Due to the limited sentencing powers of the Magistrates' Court, the case has been transferred to Chelmsford Crown Court.
He is scheduled to appear again on August 16 and has been released on conditional bail, which bans him from having unsupervised contact with children under 18 and from residing at a location where a child is present.
