MAN BRANDED 'VERGING ON THE SATANIC' JAILED FOR LIFE TWICE FOR BRUTAL RAPES
A man known as Harry Bannerman, aged 55, who was previously convicted under the alias Henry Maughan Walker for serious offenses, was recently sentenced to life imprisonment for multiple counts of rape.
He admitted to raping a 67-year-old woman with alcohol problems and a 53-year-old woman suffering from chronic schizophrenia.
The court heard that Bannerman, of Maldon, had a criminal history dating back to 1971, including raping a nine-year-old girl and a 39-year-old woman in earlier decades.
During the sentencing, Bannerman attempted to plead for a softer sentence by writing a letter to the judge.
However, the judge described him as 'evil, wicked' and emphasized that he should serve at least 20 years so that upon release, he would no longer pose a danger to women.
Detective Chief Inspector Roy Dennis from Essex police stated, "I would have been gutted with anything less than life for this man.
He was a very shrewd operator who picked on vulnerable victims." The judge branded Bannerman as "verging on the Satanic," highlighting the severity of his crimes and the need for a stringent punishment.
