WREXHAM PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING GIRLS
A “DEPRAVED” paedophile from Wrexham has been handed an extended prison sentence for his sexual abuse of two girls.Kevin Jones, 41, was convicted after trial last month of two counts each of rape, sexual assault, and assault by penetration, and one charge of assault by touching.
Jones, of Bryn Eglwys Road, was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment, to be followed by four years on licence, at Mold Crown Court today (December 9).
Prosecutor Karl Scholz read out statements from both survivors of Jones’ abuse.
The first wrote that she was a “happy, giggly and funny” child, but now has days where she feels “numb,” or “no emotion”.
She said she feels “ashamed” and “dirty” and says she has suffered anxiety attacks and nightmares.
The second survivor wrote "to the present day, my anxiety can be triggered at any time or place.” Representing Jones, who had three previous convictions for dissimilar matters, Duncan Bould said he has a “good and consistent work record”.
Prior to being remanded in custody, Jones had “supportive and stable living arrangements” and had never previously experienced prison, Mr Bould added.
Sentencing, Judge Rhys Rowlands condemned Jones’ “shameful” and “depraved” conduct, and his “unnatural sexual needs”.
He added that Jones exhibited “sordid behaviour without a thought as to their welfare”.
“It is clear that you have no remorse at all,” Judge Rowlands told Jones.
“You have no insight into the undoubted serious harm which you have no doubt caused both victims.” Lifelong restraining orders were made for the girls’ protection, while Jones must adhere to a sexual harm prevention order and sex offenders register notification requirements indefinitely.
