NOTTINGHAM PEDOPHILE'S SENTENCE CUT BY APPEAL COURT
A man from Nottingham named Kevin Heard, aged 40, who was charged with targeting a 14-year-old girl and downloading child pornography, has seen his prison sentence reduced. He was initially sentenced to six years at Nottingham Crown Court last August after admitting a range of charges, including indecent assault, possession of indecent images of children, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activities.
However, the Court of Appeal has shortened his sentence to four years.
The reduction was granted because the original 'starting point' used by the sentencing judge was considered 'excessively high.' A pre-sentence report revealed that Heard posed a substantial threat to children, primarily emotional harm, and displayed no remorse or recognition of the illegality of his actions.
It is also significant that Heard had already been subject to a three-year community order for assault and unlawful sexual intercourse when he engaged in the offense against the 14-year-old girl.
