NOTTINGHAM MAN SENTENCED FOR VOYEURISM AFTER RECORDING WOMAN IN BATHROOM
A court heard that David Burton, 55, of Hillfield Road, Stapleford, was 'thoroughly ashamed of himself' after he was sentenced for hiding a camera and recording a vulnerable woman in a bathroom.
Burton pleaded guilty to one charge of voyeurism, involving four separate recordings found on his phone, with evidence indicating attempts to delete the images.
He was sentenced to 18 weeks in custody, suspended for two years, at Nottingham Crown Court on July 21.
Burton was also made subject to a sexual harm prevention order and ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for seven years.
The victim described the incident as having a profound impact, feeling completely violated and now finding it hard to trust others.
The judge branded Burton's behavior as 'disgusting, intrusive and highly personal' against a young female who cannot be identified.
The court noted that Burton showed no genuine remorse and remarked that 'they were naked and entitled to privacy'.
The judge told Burton, 'if you do show remorse, I don't believe it is genuine,' and stated that Burton was 'thoroughly ashamed of himself' and 'doesn't really know how to live it down.'
