STAPLEFORD ROBBER JAILED FOR ATTACKING TEEN AND STEALING £500 BRACELET
A robber has been jailed after he attacked a 15-year-old boy and stole his £500 bracelet that had been a recent birthday present.Curtis Hodgkinson pushed the boy to the ground and punched him in the face three times before fleeing with the 18 carat gold item.
The attack happened on June 10 at around 6pm on Warren Avenue, Stapleford, while Hodgkinson, of Selside Court, Chilwell, was awaiting sentencing for other matters.
Hodgkinson, who was 19 at the time, approached the teenager after getting out of a black Vauxhall Astra.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how Hodgkinson, now 20, was with two friends who laughed as he carried out the unprovoked attack.
It left the victim with bruises.
Enquiries by Nottinghamshire Police led to Hodgkinson being identified as the prime suspect, and he was arrested three days after the incident.
Following an investigation, which included CCTV inquiries, witness testimony and forensic evidence obtained from a pint glass Hodgkinson left at the scene, he was charged with robbery.
Hodgkinson pleaded guilty to robbery and was jailed for two years and six months on Tuesday, October 18.
He received a further consecutive jail term of 15 months after he pleaded guilty to wounding without intent in relation to a separate incident on 25 March 2022, in which he stabbed a friend in the arm following an alcohol-fuelled argument in a garden shed in Hickings Lane, Stapleford.
This means that his overall sentence is three years and nine months.
Following the sentencing, Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “These are very serious offences and I am pleased justice has been done.
By committing a robbery while awaiting sentence for a previous matter, Hodgkinson showed a complete disregard for the law and it is right he is now in prison.
"I hope the sentence he’s received sends a strong message as to how seriously Nottinghamshire Police and the justice system takes this kind of offending.”
