TAYSIDE BUSINESSMAN PLACED ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTRY FOR USING HIDDEN CAMERA ON SCHOOLGIRL
A director of a cleaning company in Tayside has been added to the sex offenders register following his use of a hidden camera to observe a schoolgirl.Kevin Gray, aged 41 and residing on Wallace Court in Perth, appeared before Perth Sheriff Court to plead guilty to charges of voyeurism and the production or possession of indecent images of a minor.
His sentencing is scheduled for the upcoming year.
During proceedings, the court noted the presence of suspicious search terms in his internet browsing history.
Initially, Gray claimed he had disposed of the camera weeks earlier, but when confronted with evidence, he admitted to discarding it just days before his arrest.
Police interviews revealed that Gray was candid about his actions, explaining that he used the concealed camera after he felt sexually attracted to the girl upon seeing her climbing over a gate and catching a brief view of her clothing.
Court documents also show Gray’s intention to establish a business aimed at collaborating with educational institutions and community groups, as part of his efforts to, apparently, foster awareness about sex and pornography addiction.
The case came to light when the young girl’s mother discovered incriminating images on Gray’s iPad after correctly guessing his passcode.
She found a hidden album containing thumbnail images, some of which depicted her daughter clothed, while others showed her naked in a bathroom setting.
The mother was unable to view the videos directly but saw screenshots of Gray’s saved content.
During his police interview, Gray admitted to secretly recording in the bathroom, asserting remorse when confronted.
His internet history contained search terms relating to his offences.
At sentencing, his solicitor acknowledged Gray’s attempt to seek psychological help and noted that he had recently been assaulted and experienced vandalism at his residence.
The sheriff emphasized the gravity of Gray’s betrayal of trust and sentenced him to 120 hours of unpaid work in lieu of jail time, supervised for three years, and required him to participate in a rehabilitation program.
Additionally, Gray was placed on the sex offenders register for five years and ordered to avoid contact with children unless authorized.
Further court revelations detailed Gray’s recent efforts to set up an ‘educational’ company that claims to work with schools and support groups.
This business, incorporated shortly before his guilty plea, states its aim to promote understanding of the effects of sex and porn addiction through education, counseling, and community engagement.
Although Gray’s defense denied plans to visit schools to discuss pornography specifically, he confirmed the existence of some support network related to the company.
The court was informed that Gray’s new enterprise lists objectives including aiding those affected by sexual behaviors and promoting social and psychological awareness, with plans to collaborate with educational and community groups to address issues like addiction and digital harms.
Gray, a director at the firm and employer of Proclean Ltd, intends to reinvest profits into these community-focused projects, according to corporate records.
