RADCLIFFE MAN JAILED FOR KILLING WIFE AFTER AFFAIR CONFESSION
James Bland, aged 62, received a six-year prison sentence after being convicted of killing his wife, Carole Bland, in a violent attack.
He stabbed her multiple times in the chest and stomach during a jealous rage triggered by her confession of having an affair.
The incident took place at their home on Bury Road in the early hours of Friday, August 1.
Court documentation revealed that Bland confronted Carole, who had returned from a night out, with a kitchen knife leading to a fatal fight.
Following the stabbing, Bland attempted to take his own life by cutting his throat.
Emergency services arrived to find him still alive and administered first aid, while officers found Carole’s body nearby.
Bland later admitted that his actions were motivated by the dissolution of their marriage and her admission of an affair, stating that he had stabbed her after she declared she was seeing another man.
He reportedly said that his violence was related to their relationship difficulties, mentioning, “I’ve stabbed her and tried to kill myself.
She wanted me to stay in the house with her while she was with her boyfriend.
She refused to sell the house or let me move.” Due to his remorse, the court sentenced him to six years for manslaughter.
The case was seen as a tragic conclusion to a marriage that had lasted over four decades, ending in violence and loss.
