SERIAL RAPIST JAILED AFTER POLICE APPROACH VICTIMS TO BREAK LONG SILENCE
A convicted sex offender has been sentenced to nine years in prison following a comprehensive investigation into his pattern of abusing women.The court heard that Kenneth McCarron, aged 48, had inflicted violence and sexual assault on multiple victims over a span of more than two decades.
During the sentencing, Judge Douglas Brown ordered that McCarron be supervised for an additional three years upon his release and be placed on the sex offenders register.
McCarron had previous convictions for offences against women, and the latest charges stem from incidents between 1996 and 2019 at various addresses across Lanarkshire.
The court described harrowing details of his actions, including grabbing a victim by the throat and pinning her to a bed, which only ended when she began to cry, and breaking her nose.
Another victim recounted how he flew into a rage after she visited him with lunch, calling her "a s**t" and throwing a roll at her before pushing her out of the room.
Multiple victims reported that McCarron assaulted them most days, leaving them badly bruised and threatened their lives.
Two women were raped by him, with one victim stating she felt too scared to resist.
The court also heard how he targeted women met through dating sites, forcing himself on them and intimidating them with comments like "I cannot believe you let me have sex".
McCarron’s actions caused significant trauma, with one woman describing feeling humiliated, tired, and low in mood after the assault.
He also subjected a woman he met online to hostile messages, including calls such as "a c**" and "a w****", and threatened to stab her at a hospital when she visited a relative.
The investigation was initiated in 2020 after police approached women known to him, leading to his arrest and subsequent guilty plea to seven charges of physical and sexual violence.
The court recognized the bravery of the victims who came forward to report the abuse, some of which had gone unreported for years.
All women involved had been approached by police and there were additional unreported incidents of abuse involving McCarron.
He was detained at HMP Barlinnie at the time of his arrest.
The court emphasized the severity of his crimes, which spanned over two decades and involved multiple offences, and issued a comprehensive sentence reflecting his dangerousness and the impact on his victims.
