BARNSLEY MAN JAILED FOR THREATS AND HOSTAGE-LIKE BEHAVIOUR AFTER DOMESTIC DISPUTE
A husband who threatened to murder his wife and “stab the f***” out of her has been jailed.Kenneth Levitt, from Barnsley, had been drinking when he became aggressive and picked up a knife.
The 44-year-old was heard by a 999 call handler to say he would stab his wife and murder her on December 19.
He also threatened to stab any police officers who attended their home in Wombwell.
When officers arrived, they found Levitt in a room holding the knife to his neck and threatening to stab himself.
Officers used a taser and he was rendered unconscious.
He was charged with affray and admitted the offence at Sheffield Crown Court.
The court heard he had received some distressing news on the day of the threats and turned to alcohol.
Levitt, of Bondfield Crescent, Barnsley, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for what the Recorder Darren Preston described as “disgraceful” behaviour.
