KENNETH BROWN SENTENCED IN CITY FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ATTACK
Kenneth Brown, a 33-year-old offender from the city, was sentenced for a brutal assault on his partner at their home.The attack involved dragging her through shattered glass, hitting her with a spanner, and attempting to treat a severe knee wound with superglue.
The incident took place last summer, following a night of drinking and drug use that triggered a rage.
Court proceedings revealed that Brown, a roofer by profession, displayed violent behavior including banging her head against the wall, pulling her by the hair, and pushing her out of the house before attacking her again.
His partner sustained a deep laceration to her knee, exposing the tendon, which required surgery under general anaesthetic.
Despite neighbors raising concerns, Brown refused ambulance assistance and went into the street wielding a spanner, demanding the return of a car he believed was stolen.
He then assaulted his partner further by striking her with his fists and the spanner.
Brown later apologized and took her to hospital, where her injuries were documented.
It was noted that he has a criminal record with six previous assaults between 2010 and 2013.
Although he admitted to wounding, he was convicted of wounding with intent following a trial.
The court identified this incident as domestic violence and sentenced Brown to an extended 12-year term, comprising nine years in prison and a three-year extended license.
The judge described Brown’s behavior as surpassing typical domestic violence and characterized him as a dangerous offender.
