AYR COURT: WOMAN GUILTY OF CAT NEGLECT AND ABANDONING PETS
AN AYR woman has admitted to neglecting cats, with one of the pets now deceased.
Kayleigh Macdonald pleaded guilty to two charges of causing an animal unnecessary suffering as well as abandoning two cats, with her case calling last week at Ayr Sheriff Court.
The 35-year-old admitted causing an animal she was responsible for, namely a now-deceased cat, unnecessary suffering - after failing to provide appropriate care and treatment, in particular adequate nutrition, between September 9 and October 5, 2022, at her home in Church Court.
Court papers state the cat became severely emaciated and Macdonald failed to seek veterinary advice or treatment for health conditions including severe emaciation and muscle loss.
She admitted a second charge of abandoning animals in circumstances likely to cause unnecessary suffering between October 1 and October 5, 2022.
She admitted failing to provide the cats with adequate, accessible hydration and nutrition without reasonable excuse.
Sentencing was deferred for criminal justice social work reports and a restriction of liberty order assessment - after an earlier structured deferred sentence was revoked.
Macdonald, now of Argyle Park, Ayr, was ordained to appear for sentencing at a later date.
