INVERNESS WOMAN INVOLVED IN ASSAULT OVER GROUP CHAT COMMENTS
A 20-year-old woman named Katie Morris was involved in an assault on a young girl, which was captured on camera. The incident occurred after Morris had been added to a group chat that contained hateful comments about her daughter.
According to court reports, Morris and her co-accused Bethany Henderson, 22, admitted to attacking the victim on June 8 of the previous year on Miller Street, Inverness.
The victim, a 17-year-old girl, was injured during the assault, which involved Morris dragging her to the ground by her hair and punching her in the head, followed by Henderson seizing her and throwing her to the ground.
The attack was witnessed by CCTV footage presented in Inverness Sheriff Court.
The young girl suffered cuts, grazes, and lost fingernails, and later reported dizziness and nausea.
The court heard that the attack was sparked by hateful comments in a group chat, and both Morris and Henderson expressed remorse, with Morris specifically apologizing for her actions and acknowledging her embarrassment.
The sheriff noted troubling aspects of the case, including the violence and the fact there was one victim and a group of offenders.
Both women, first offenders, were released on bail until sentencing next month, with reports ordered for further assessment.
