The incident occurred around 2:30 pm on September 13, 2007, involving a 45-year-old woman who was walking down Mable Brow with her shopping when Billington approached her.
He made a sexual comment, threatened her, and subsequently committed a sexual assault.
He forcibly took her into nearby bushes and raped her.
The verdict was supported by DNA evidence that confirmed his involvement.
