HOLYHEAD MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING AND VIOLENT ABUSE CAUSING DISFIGUREMENT
A man from Holyhead named Justin Harvey, aged 35, has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison for abusive and controlling behavior towards his partner, Chloe Jenkins.Harvey, who pleaded guilty to coercive and controlling conduct, caused serious harm to Ms Jenkins, including a disfigured finger and a fractured small finger on her left hand.
He strangled her multiple times in May and October 2023, and during a dispute in June 2023, he assaulted her by punching her in the face.
Additionally, he threw a lit cigarette at her face and trapped her arm in a door in February 2024.
The relationship ended after Ms Jenkins sent a photograph of herself with another man, which angered Harvey.
He then stormed into the pub where she was present, armed with a bat and shouting at her, causing her to feel scared.
After being arrested, Harvey continued to manipulate Ms Jenkins by encouraging her to drop the charges and to share her location.
During court hearings, Ms Jenkins described the emotional trauma she experienced, stating that her disfigurement was a constant reminder and that she had to leave her employment due to her injuries.
Harvey's previous violent convictions were considered dated and limited, with his last conviction dating back to 2009.
Judge Timothy Petts imposed a 20-year restraining order to protect Ms Jenkins and criticized Harvey for displaying no remorse and minimal responsibility, condemning his ongoing pattern of violence and control during their relationship.
