JUNIOR MOHAMMED OAKES BRUTAL MURDER IN BIRMINGHAM LEAVES FAMILY DEVASTATED

Junior Mohammed Oakes, a resident of Birmingham, has been handed a severe prison sentence of no less than 22 years for the heinous killing of Natasha Trevis, the mother of his three young children. The court described the attack as both savage and prolonged, highlighting the brutality of the incident that took place last August.

According to court reports, Oakes carried out a vicious stabbing spree, inflicting a total of 26 stab wounds on Natasha. The injuries targeted her head, face, neck, chest, back, and legs, and the attack occurred in the back of a taxi. Witnesses, including the taxi driver and bystanders, observed the horrifying assault unfold in real time, providing crucial testimony that painted a grim picture of the violence.

Judge William Davis QC condemned the murder as an act of extreme savagery, emphasizing the devastating impact on Natasha’s three children, who were aged between one and three at the time. The judge stated that the crime not only robbed the young mother of her life but also deprived her children of their mother and her family of a promising young woman. The court proceedings revealed that the murder was committed just five days after a social worker inadvertently disclosed that Natasha had terminated a fourth pregnancy, a detail that appeared to be a catalyst for the tragic event.

Oakes, who is known to be illiterate and has a history marked by domestic violence, pleaded guilty to the murder prior to the trial. During sentencing, the judge underscored the brutality of the attack, noting that many of the wounds were inflicted from behind with significant force. It was also revealed that Natasha attempted to escape the assault, only to be chased and further attacked by Oakes. In a disturbing remark made while in custody, Oakes claimed, “I killed my missus because she had killed one of our kids,” a statement that added to the court’s understanding of his mindset.

Further details about Oakes’s background include previous cautions for assault and possession of a bladed article, as well as convictions for assault. The case also involved social services, and it was noted that Oakes was no longer living with his family prior to the murder, indicating a troubled history and strained relationships. The court’s decision to impose a lengthy sentence underscores the gravity of the crime and the tragic loss of Natasha Trevis, whose life was cut short in a moment of unimaginable violence in Birmingham.
