TWISTED CORBY KITTEN KILLER 'STAMPED' ON HIS CHILDREN'S TINY PET
Joshua Westwood committed severe crimes that resulted in the death of a small kitten and caused significant psychological trauma to his partner. His victim, Jodie Gaffney, who wished to be publicly identified, described Westwood as 'inhumane.' She expressed that her family would forever mourn their pet but also shared relief that they are now able to move forward with a future filled with happiness and liberty.
Westwood is beginning a prison sentence after a Northampton Crown Court heard testimonies of his assault on Jodie, including an incident where he strangled her until she nearly lost consciousness.
The couple had been together and had two children before ending their relationship in early 2022.
Despite a family court order in June 2022 prohibiting contact, Westwood met Jodie socially in November 2022.
Upon returning to her residence, his behavior changed, and he began chasing her around and making accusations, according to prosecutor Diane Mundill.
When Jodie attempted to escape, Westwood pulled her down the stairs, fell onto her, and then wrapped his hands around her neck for about half a minute.
Despite her cries and struggles to breathe, he persisted in strangling her.
Fortunately, Jodie was on FaceTime with a neighbor during the assault, and the neighbor intervened after hearing the disturbance.
Later, in late January 2023, Westwood visited Jodie’s home to help her, staying for two days.
On February 2, she left to meet friends, leaving Westwood alone to care for the family’s 12-week-old kitten.
Shortly after, he followed her outside.
He then told the social group, 'Don't scream, but...
the cat..,' and after she returned to the house, she discovered the kitten was shaking and bleeding from its mouth.
Westwood had stomped on the animal, killing it.
When confronted, he denied involvement.
The following morning, Jodie found additional damage to her mirror and dressing table, and Westwood later sent her messages expressing hatred toward her.
