A 34-year-old man from Corby has received a prison sentence exceeding two years and has been placed under a restraining order after admitting to engaging in a targeted harassment campaign against a woman in the area.
On October 17, Friday, Glen Sinclair appeared at Northampton Crown Court and was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to three charges related to incidents that occurred in July of the same year.
During the hearing, Sinclair, who resides on Greenhill Rise, was also granted a five-year restraining order that prohibits him from making any contact with the woman by any means.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge following his release from custody.
Court documents indicated that between July 6 and July 25, Sinclair became fixated and obsessively fixated on the woman after a breakup that happened years earlier.
He sent her numerous messages at all hours, causing distress.
In one message, Sinclair wrote, “hopefully no-one chucks acid in your face, that would be a shame,” and in another, he told a third party via text message that he had paid someone to perform an attack, which made the woman fear for her safety.
The woman responsibly contacted Northamptonshire Police as Sinclair’s harassment persisted, including sharing private photos and a video with her family and friends through a now-inactive WhatsApp group.
An investigation uncovered the full extent of Sinclair’s actions, leading to charges of stalking with a fear of violence, breaching a non-molestation order, and sharing intimate images or videos without consent.
After multiple court appearances at Northampton Magistrates’ Court, Sinclair changed his plea to guilty on September 4 for all three charges, which resulted in the case being transferred to Crown Court for sentencing.
