Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Child Sexual Offences

MAN SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES

A man identified as Joshua Rhodes, aged 30, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexual offences committed against two children.

The trial, which concluded on Wednesday, September 15, found Rhodes guilty of serious charges including attempted rape and sexual touching.

The judge, Judge Ahmed Nadim, sentenced Rhodes at Bradford Crown Court and also imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, along with a requirement for Rhodes to register as a sex offender.

The court was informed that Rhodes from the Shipley area, had attempted to bribe one of the children with money and food during the offences.

The sentence includes a two-year licence period following his release, and Rhodes will be eligible to apply for parole after serving half of his custodial term, which is nine years.

During the trial, Rhodes was acquitted of two additional charges of sexual activity with a child.

The judge highlighted the significant impact on the victims and emphasized the seriousness of the offences.

It was also noted that Rhodes suffers from ongoing mental health issues which may have influenced his actions.
