SHIPLEY MAN JAILED FOR OVER TWO YEARS FOR CHILD ABUSE MATERIAL
A cocaine-fuelled pervert who shared shocking child abuse material with others and chatted with them about murdering and raping babies has been jailed for more than two years.Ryan Holdsworth’s sickening crimes came to light last year after an undercover police officer posed as a child abuser and engaged in online conversations with the defendant.
Police officers arrested Holdsworth at his home last July and when his mobile phone was examined they found almost 1,500 photos and videos of child abuse.
Prosecutor Jessica Lister told Bradford Crown Court that Holdsworth, of Leeds Road, Shipley, had distributed 75 images and film clips to other people and his conversations with them included “extreme content”.
She said the discussions included the rape and murder of newborn babies and necrophilia.
Floor-fitter Holdsworth, 38, admitted offences relating to his possession of the indecent material and distributing some of it to like-minded abusers and he was jailed for 30 months.
Barrister Timothy Jacobs said Holdsworth, who has been remanded in custody since last October, had been addressing his addiction to cocaine while in prison.
He said the use of cocaine seemed to have gone hand-in-hand with Holdsworth’s dreadful offending.
Holdsworth, who had no previous convictions, was said to have been in something of “a spiral” at the time being isolated and using drugs.
Judge Christopher Smith said Holdsworth had engaged in very serious offending over a prolonged period of time.
He said while an offender might be viewing material in the privacy of his home and feeling entirely disconnected from what is unfolding, it had to be remembered that in front of the camera was a child or even a baby or a toddler being sexually abused.
“Those who involve themselves in this vile industry as 'consumers' of this perverted material do their bit to keep this dreadful industry going,” the judge told Holdsworth.
The judge said Holdsworth’s case went beyond that because his perverted interest had extended to the distribution of some of the material.
He said the offending was aggravated by the fact that the material involved very young children and they were showing clear signs of distress.
Judge Smith said the message had to go out that the courts would almost certainly impose immediate prison sentences for anyone tempted to distribute such material to others.
Holdsworth will now have to register as a sex offender with the police for the rest of his life and his use of the internet will be monitored under the terms of a 15-year sexual harm prevention order.
