JOSHUA PEMBERTON AND SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENSES IN INVERNESS AND LIVINGSTON
A man identified as Joshua Pemberton has been linked to a series of disturbing sexual crimes that took place in Inverness and Livingston, with serious allegations spanning several months. The most recent incident involves Pemberton, 26 years old and originally from Beauly in the Highlands, who was convicted of attacking a 13-year-old girl at a Travelodge hotel in Livingston, West Lothian, on January 22, 2022.
During this assault, Pemberton not only raped the young girl but also threatened to share intimate photographs of her, adding a layer of coercion and intimidation to his criminal behavior.
According to reports, after the initial assault, Pemberton followed the girl into a bathroom within the hotel premises, where he further encroached upon her personal space by putting his arms around her.
It was revealed that prior to this incident, Pemberton had taken explicit images of the girl on earlier occasions and had sent her written messages containing sexual content, which further underscores the predatory nature of his actions.
Between the day of the assault and June 22, 2022, Pemberton continued to threaten to disclose the intimate images he had of the girl, effectively using the threat of exposure as a means of control and intimidation.
He is also charged with meeting the girl with the intent to engage in unlawful sexual activity, either with her or in her presence.
In addition to these allegations, Pemberton is accused of having sexual encounters with two other girls aged between 14 and 15 at various properties in Inverness.
These charges cover a period from January to June 2022, indicating a pattern of predatory behavior over several months.
Pemberton ultimately pled guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to a total of 16 charges related to these offenses.
His criminal history includes a previous conviction in 2018, when he was sentenced to 27 months in prison after threatening to rape and drown a 13-year-old girl unless she sent him indecent images.
He was also jailed for two years in 2019 for similar offenses involving minors.
Currently, Pemberton's sentencing has been deferred until next month, during which additional details regarding the circumstances of his latest crimes will be examined.
Meanwhile, Judge Lady Stacey has continued his remand in custody, ensuring he remains detained pending further legal proceedings.
This case highlights the ongoing issues of sexual exploitation and abuse, with authorities continuing to pursue justice for the victims involved in these disturbing incidents across Inverness and Livingston.
