JOSHUA LIONEL RICHARDSON'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN FILEY AND BEYOND
Joshua Lionel Richardson, a 31-year-old man from Filey, has been found guilty and sentenced for a series of disturbing and inappropriate acts that have caused concern among the local community and authorities alike. In November 2021, Richardson's troubling behavior came to public attention when he was seen removing all his clothing in full view of customers at the Filey Sports Club. This incident occurred near a venue hosting a children's party, which heightened the severity of his actions. Specifically, on the 20th of November that year, he repeatedly exposed himself in a manner that police reports describe as deeply unsettling. Witnesses reported that some children were 'literally exposed to his disturbing actions,' a phrase that underscores the seriousness of the offense.
Following these incidents, Richardson was arrested and taken into custody at Scarborough Police Station. During the process of his arrest, officers discovered that he had removed all his clothing when they opened his van to transport him. His behavior and the nature of his offenses led to his being sentenced at Scarborough Magistrates' Court to six months in jail. This sentence reflects the gravity of his actions and the community's concern over his conduct.
It was also revealed that Richardson had a history of similar misconduct. He had previously been seen exposing himself on a train, an incident where he was observed running down the aisle of the train while exposing himself to other passengers. This pattern of behavior indicates a troubling tendency towards public indecency in various settings.
Despite being placed under strict bail conditions designed to prevent further incidents, Richardson blatantly violated these restrictions. Among the conditions was a ban from entering licensed premises, yet on January 16th, 2022, he was caught visiting pubs and was seen near a children's play area at The Mayfield in Seamer. His disregard for the legal restrictions was further exemplified on the evening of July 30, 2023, when he was spotted running down the aisle of a Northern train service traveling from Hull to Scarborough, again exposing himself.
Richardson's aggressive and threatening behavior extended beyond public indecency. He reacted violently when asked to leave a pub in Filey, throwing a plant pot through a window and a bottle through another window upstairs, where a child was sleeping at the time. Sgt Adam Marshall described Richardson's conduct as 'shocking' and warned that such actions 'could have resulted in serious injuries.'
Due to his repeated criminal conduct, Richardson was ordered to pay £334 in compensation and associated fees. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders register, reflecting the serious nature of his offenses and the ongoing concern for public safety in the Filey area and beyond.
