DANGEROUS PAEDOPHILE DAVID HUDGHTON FROM FILEY SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS
In a case that has shocked the community of Filey, David Hudghton, a man with a history of public service, has been convicted of a series of disturbing sexual offences involving two young girls. The 78-year-old, who previously served as both a councillor and the mayor of Filey, was found guilty of multiple counts of child sexual abuse and related charges following a detailed trial at Doncaster Crown Court.Hudghton was convicted on eight counts of sexual assault against a child under the age of 13, as well as five counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. The offences reportedly took place over a period spanning from October 2017 to December 2018, during which the victims were subjected to inappropriate and criminal acts that have left a lasting impact.
The court heard that the abuse only came to light after the victims began to exhibit sexualised behaviour, which prompted their families to seek help and report the incidents to the police. The investigation uncovered the disturbing details of Hudghton’s actions, leading to his arrest and subsequent trial.
During the proceedings, the jury found Hudghton guilty of all charges, and he was subsequently sentenced to serve 15 years in prison. In addition to his incarceration, he was ordered to serve a further year on licence, ensuring close monitoring of his activities upon release. Hudghton was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, a measure designed to prevent further harm and to keep the community safe.
Furthermore, Hudghton was issued a lifetime sexual harm prevention order, restricting his contact with minors and imposing other conditions aimed at safeguarding the public. The court’s decision underscores the severity of his crimes and the ongoing threat he poses, despite his age. The case has garnered significant attention in Filey, highlighting the importance of vigilance and community awareness in protecting vulnerable individuals from abuse.
