LONDON MAN ADMITS TO KILLING HIS MUM AND SISTER IN TRAGIC STABBING
At 29 years old, Joshua Cohen has admitted responsibility for the deaths of his mother, Louise Cohen, aged 64, and his sister, Hannah Cohen, aged 33, at their home in Golders Green, London.
The incident took place on August 11, 2017, when Cohen carried out an attack on the women in the basement of the six-bedroom house.
Cohen, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, had previously been placed under an indefinite hospital order in 2018 after a trial determined he was responsible for their deaths.
He later appeared in court again after his mental health improved and entered a guilty plea to two charges of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
A psychiatrist, Dr.
Shamir Patel, testified that Cohen’s mental state was 'extremely severe,' ranking among the worst he had seen in fifteen years.
While Cohen maintained his innocence in terms of murder, he was nonetheless detained in a hospital setting without a set end date.
The victims’ relatives expressed concerns about their safety in the future, and the judge remarked that Cohen was 'a very, very sick man,' asserting that he was unlikely to be released from custody soon.
