MAN LOCKED UP FOR DANGEROUS DRIVING AND STALKING
Joseph Price, from Fron Las in Coedpoeth, Wrexham, was brought before Mold Crown Court on Thursday, June 19.The 35-year-old individual had a prior conviction for dangerous driving and stalking that caused significant fear and distress during the period from January to May of this year.
Prosecutor Joseph Lees informed the court that on January 3, the defendant verbally abused his former partner, Emily Mumford.
He then pursued her using a vehicle, engaging in multiple risky and confrontational driving maneuvers.
On a different occasion, Price was found parked outside the residence of his then-partner.
He later made threats to end his own life if she did not answer his calls.
Ms.
Mumford testified that Price’s conduct drastically affected her life, leading to her unemployment and making her feel unsafe leaving her home.
The court was told that Price warned her, saying: "If you get a new partner, you know what I will do.
Even a restraining order won't stop me" Prosecutor Lees also revealed that Price had threatened to put a tracking device in their daughter's pram and was aware of her current address at all times.
There was an incident where Price followed Ms.
Mumford to meet her new partner, shouted 'you're dead' at him, and then jumped onto her car's bonnet.
Amy Edwards, defending Price, stated: 'Mr.
Price recognises how inappropriate his behaviour was and has expressed regret.
' She explained that his actions stemmed from difficulty coping with the end of his relationship, describing them as out of character.
He understands the harm his conduct caused.
Ms.
Edwards added that Price had no previous convictions and might benefit from a structured routine, though she acknowledged this did not excuse his actions.
Judge Rhys Rowlands commented: "The aggressive driving was clearly to intimate her for a significant distance after criticising her parenting skills.
You've shown nothing but controlling behaviour by refusing to accept the victim has moved on.
You even told her to stay single, and that you'd slit her throat." The judge sentenced Price to two years in prison and imposed a two-year driving ban.
He also issued a five-year restraining order.
In conclusion, Judge Rowlands remarked: "I'm surprised you've been allowed on bail at all.
The aggravating factors in this case are far too serious.
This is your first and hopefully your only experience of custody."
