PAEDOPHILE RAPPER JOSEF DORRELL AVOIDS JAIL AFTER ASSAULTING SCHOOLGIRL

A paedophile rapper who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old schoolgirl after staggering from a North London house party high on drugs has avoided jail.

Josef Dorrell, 37, a.k.a Rellavelli, was part of London 'cloud rap' group Piff Gang in the early 2010s, appearing on BBC Radio 1Xtra and earning a review in The Guardian newspaper which described their sound as "torpid, hazy, woozy".

The group, who took their name from a strong strain of weed, shared the stage with A$AP Rocky at one of his gigs in Camden in 2012.

In one of Dorrell's verses on the song MHC, he raps: "I get all the b*tches, just like Casanova.

You can have my seconds.

Passive smoker.

Cold blooded, salamander." Dorrell, of Camden Road in Islington - who sobbed as he listened to submissions by barristers at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday (January 27) - was previously convicted of sexual communication with a child in 2022, earning him a suspended sentence and court order to stop him spending any time with children without consent from their parents.

But the predator broke the order when he approached a lone girl from behind in Dalston early one morning in July 2025, demanding her phone number and telling her she was "hot", prosecutor Henriette Kaeger told the court.

In an attempt to get Dorrell away, the girl handed over her phone to share her number and said she was on her way to school.

But Dorrell persisted with conversation, inviting her to his address along with her friends so he could cook them all dinner, said Ms Kaeger.

Dorrell then asked if the girl had a boyfriend, and whether she liked Black men, the court heard.

When the girl attempted to walk away, Dorrell put out his arms to hug her, blocking her path and forcing her into contact with him.

"She gave him a hug out of fear.

She tried to pull away from the defendant, but he was holding her tight, stroking her back and her hair," said Ms Kaeger.

Eventually the girl got away and went to school where her teacher noticed her acting differently.

When she disclosed what had happened, police were called and Dorrell was located and arrested.

After appearing at Thames Magistrates' Court, Dorrell admitted sexual assault, by hugging the girl, and breaching his sexual harm prevention order, by interacting with a girl without consent from her parents with full knowledge of his previous offending.

Explaining his behaviour, defence counsel Chloe Carvel said Dorrell had attended a house party "dressed as a girl" where he took GHB, a powerful sedative that is commonly used for chemsex and as a date rape drug.

Ms Carvel also said Dorrell accepted he had complimented the girl on her makeup and that there was "a lack of social awareness" while under the influence of the drug.

Before Dorrell's arrest, Ms Carvel said he was working as a tour manager in the music industry and had ambitions of starting a non-alcoholic cocktail business.

Ms Carvel also asked the judge to consider Dorrell's diagnosis for a serious sexually transmitted illness, and pointed out her had already served six months on remand at the time of sentencing, the equivalent to a year's custody.

Suspending his two year sentence for two years while placing him on a tagged curfew from 9pm to 7am, Recorder Philip Brook Smith KC told Dorrell: "You approached a young girl who was late for school.

You approached her and said she was 'hot'.

She was obviously concerned by your presence." Describing the sexual assault, the judge added: "This was a contact offence with a young girl.

Her parents and guardians were unaware of your history.

It follows you were in breach of your sexual harm prevention order imposed in 2022...

Your victim was vulnerable due to her age, and because she was only on her way to school."
