A drunken aggressor subjected his partner to severe abuse, relentlessly punching her and leaving her feeling terrified. When she attempted to telephone the authorities, he confiscated her phone and shattered it.
Jordan Shaw, aged 27, was responsible for attacking his former girlfriend in Tonypandy during the morning of August 27.

Shaw was detained after officers entered the residence and took a statement from the distressed woman.
He pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and criminal damage.
Shaw had five previous convictions, including offences such as wounding, theft, crimes against property and individuals, as well as drug and firearms offences.
His legal representative requested a short custodial sentence, citing his troubled background and sobriety.
The judge characterized Shaw as having a quick temper and highlighted his violent past, stating: "You have in my view a quick temper...
Your record for violence over the past four years has been quite serious.
When confronted, you tend to resolve conflicts with violence.
You violently assaulted your ex-partner on the day in question, repeatedly punching her and verbally abusing her.
You treated her like a punching bag; your behavior was cowardly, and you bullied her to the point of terror." Shaw received a sentence of 16 months in prison, along with a restraining order for ten years.
