KIRKCALDY MAN JORDAN COWAN SWORE AND VERBALLY ABUSED PARTNER
A man from Kirkcaldy who pleaded guilty to shouting, using offensive language, and displaying aggressive behaviour towards a social worker and their partner has been sentenced to a two-year period of supervision under a community payback order.Jordan Cowan, aged 21 and residing on Invertiel Terrace, appeared before Sheriff Ian Anderson at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for sentencing.
Cowan admitted that on December 29, 2020, at an address in Whyterose Terrace, Methil, he engaged in threatening and abusive conduct by shouting, swearing, and acting aggressively towards a social worker, actions likely to cause fear or distress.
He also acknowledged that on March 4, 2022, at his home address, he behaved aggressively towards his partner, which involved shouting, swearing, making offensive remarks, kicking household items, and slamming a door — all while on bail.
Furthermore, Cowan admitted to breaching bail conditions by sending electronic messages, commenting on social media posts, and sending online messages to his former partner on July 15, 2021, at an address in Tern Court, Glenrothes, and elsewhere, despite being prohibited from approaching or contacting her.
He also pleaded guilty to an incident on February 25, 2022, at The Maltings, Auchtertool, where he shouted and swore repeatedly, poured a liquid from a bottle onto a sofa, punched a television, kicked doors repeatedly, and rang a doorbell.
Sheriff Anderson informed Cowan that alternatives to imprisonment were available and imposed a community payback order with supervision for two years.
This includes the requirement for him to participate in the Men’s Caledonian Programme.
As for the offence committed in February 2022, the sheriff deferred sentencing until August 11.
