WOMAN HATER RAPIST WHO RAPED DRUNKEN WOMAN IN HOTEL BEDROOM JAILED
A man from Warrington known for his hostility towards women and convicted as a sex offender has received a prison sentence after committing a sexual assault in a hotel. The court sentenced Jordan Campbell to seven and a half years in custody, labeling him as a dangerous offender and adding a five-year extension to his license.
His victim, a woman in her 30s, experienced significant psychological trauma and remains troubled by her ordeal, with the judge, Recorder David Knifton KC, stating she is haunted by memories of the attack.
He also noted that she attempted suicide two weeks after the incident and describes herself as a shell of her former self.
The trauma was worsened by her partial amnesia regarding the events, making it unlikely she will ever fully understand what transpired in the hotel room.
According to court details, on August 18, this year, the woman traveled from Bradford to Liverpool for a short holiday, having booked a room at the Premier Inn on Bolton Street in advance.
After consuming drinks on the train and at Lime Street station’s Weatherspoons where she socialized with a man, she then encountered Callaghan, also known as Jordan Scott-Michael, who was 48.
He had been sitting in McDonald's and noticed her intoxicated state, helping her with her luggage to the hotel.
However, the judge emphasized that his subsequent conduct was far from that of a Good Samaritan.
CCTV footage showed them together in the hotel reception at 5:30 pm, where hotel staff refused to serve them alcohol and he escorted her to her room.
The woman has limited memory of the 24 minutes following this, during which he was present.
She refused his offer of cocaine and remembered refusing to perform oral sex.
Her next clear memory was waking at 10:30 pm, feeling uncomfortable and naked from the waist down.
Her father was contacted by her, hearing her cry for help and describing being unable to move and noticing blood on the sheets.
Confused, she told her father what happened, prompting him to call police, as detailed in court evidence presented by prosecutor Louise McCloskey.
Callaghan was later detained and claimed that any sexual activity was initiated by her and consensual.
He also failed to provide the PIN for his phone, which contained deleted data, breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
It was revealed that he has a criminal record consisting of 24 convictions for 90 different offenses, including sexual assaults, indecent images of children, and violations of his SHPO.
The defendant, residing on Parker Street in Warrington, pleaded guilty to charges of rape, sexual assault, and breaches of his SHPO.
Sentencing included a lifelong restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
He must serve at least two-thirds of his prison term before being eligible for parole.
Recorder Knifton mentioned that the defendant suffers from unstable personality disorder, PTSD, and possibly a psychotic illness, having previously been detained under the Mental Health Act.
Earlier this year, he disengaged from mental health services and ceased taking prescribed medication.
He claimed in pre-sentence reports that his offenses might not have occurred if he had been medicated and suggested that his sexual offending stemmed from a desire for risk-taking and possible retaliation for childhood sexual abuse by a female teacher at a residential school.
The judge highlighted the pattern of repeated sexual offending against women and underlined the considerable risk of further harm, noting that the defendant targeted vulnerable women, possibly influenced by drug use.
Defense lawyer Tom Watson argued that his guilty plea demonstrated remorse.
