GLASGOW MAN CONVICTED OF SERIAL RAPES FACES LIFE IMPRISONMENT
A MAN faces a life sentence after being convicted of raping five women and sexually abusing a sixth.Jonathon Mallon, 32, sat weeping in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow after he was found guilty of a campaign of terror spanning over 14 years.
During the trial, details emerged that Mallon raped one woman in a cinema toilet and another in a changing cubicle at a busy swimming pool.
Judge Bill Dunlop QC expressed his sentiments, stating, "Well may you weep.
I hope your tears are for the women whose lives you have ruined." The judge also ordered an assessment to evaluate Mallon's risk to the public and indicated he is considering an order for lifelong restriction.
Mallon was convicted of rapes, sexual abuse, and domestic abuse, with victims aged 21, 25, 26, 31, 31, with the victim of sexual abuse being 27.
All victims were vulnerable.
He has previous convictions for domestic abuse, violence, carrying a knife, and fire-raising.
As he was taken away, he shouted at a 26-year-old victim sitting on the benches, "I hope you are f****** happy now," causing her to flee in tears.
Mallon, a keen churchgoer, met some victims at church, on a bus, and at parties.
His former girlfriend described him as a Jekyll and Hyde character, charming and kind until he manipulated women and then revealed his darker side.
The court is to sentence him at a later date, and he was placed on the sex offenders register.
