VIOLENT HARTLEPOOL THUG THREATENED EX-PARTNER WITH A KNIFE
A violent thug who bit his ex-partner’s lip and stole cash from her during a campaign of abuse has been jailed for his violent behaviour.John Simpson’s drug addiction had caused problems throughout the short-lived relationship with the victim, who has since passed away, Teesside Crown Court heard.
The 25-year-old refused to accept that the relationship was over and breached a court order to stay away from the woman.
The court heard how he was arrested following the incident after his grandfather contacted the police when the defendant turned up at his home.
Dealing with the harassment charge, Mr Pickin said the defendant grabbed the victim’s phone and accused her of infidelity, saying 'I would rather stab this knife through you rather than you be with anyone else.
I will kill you if anyone goes near you again’.
The court heard how Simpson bit the woman’s lip the following day before he verbally abused her again and threatened to smash her house up.
Simpson, formerly of Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to harassment with fear of violence between March 3 and 6 this year and further charges of theft and assault by beating from November 27 last year.
The court sentenced Simpson to a total of 16 months for all offences after he threatened his ex-partner with a knife.
