PERTH RAPIST JOHN SIMPSON SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS FOR ASSAULT AND THREATS
Living in Huntley with victims in perth and Glenrothes.John Simpson, aged 33, from Perth, has been convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison for multiple offenses.
He was found guilty of repeated rapes of a woman at a residence in Glenrothes during 2020 and 2021, after initially denying the charges.
The court also heard that he committed a sex attack on another woman near St Paul’s Church in Perth city centre on February 25, 2023.
Simpson’s history of abusive conduct against women was detailed in court, which revealed that his misconduct began in 2015 when he threatened a woman in Dundee with knives, entered her home without permission, and subjected her to further abuse including sharpening knives and threatening to kill her, as well as throwing a pet cat and threatening to kill the animal.
Simpson has been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and a judge has issued non-harassment orders to prevent him from contacting his victims.
During the trial, defense lawyer David Taylor noted that Simpson maintains his innocence in these cases, attributes his recent stability to a new relationship, and has addressed substance abuse issues, describing himself as "completely clean." The court considered his difficult childhood, marked by numerous adverse experiences, though he demonstrated some potential at school before being excluded multiple times.
The judge’s ruling reflects the severity of his offenses and his ongoing danger to the public.
