WISHAW DRIVER PUT ON SEX OFFENDERS' REGISTER AFTER EXPOSING HIMSELF TO TEEN GIRLS
A driver has been put on the sex offenders' register after twice exposing himself to teenage girls in Motherwell.John Richford, 30, of Wishaw, admitted exposing himself and engaging in sexual behaviour on Craigneuk Street and Range Road on September 9 last year.
The first incident happened around 8am as two females, aged between 16 and 18, were walking to New College Lanarkshire.
Rosemary O'Neill, prosecuting, told the court: "They were standing at a zebra crossing when a car pulled up very slowly.
The driver's window was open and the driver stared at them and smiled.
They could see he was not wearing trousers." Around 30 minutes later, two girls aged 14 and a 15-year-old girl were walking on Range Road when they saw the driver's window of a parked car was open.
The driver was sitting with his trousers down, staring directly at the girls and smiling, while holding his phone as if trying to film them.
The girls contacted their mothers and provided the car's registration number.
Police officers later stopped Richford on Coltness Road, Wishaw.
His sentence was deferred until December for background reports and a risk assessment.
