BANCHORY JOINER ADMITS TO DISTURBING SEX ACTS IN COURT
A joiner from Banchory named John Moir has admitted to filming himself performing a sexual act involving a sleeping woman’s feet. This disturbing conduct was discovered when the victim found a number of intimate videos on Moir's mobile phone, which prompted her to report the incident to the police.
During police interviews, Moir refused to provide passcodes for two mobile phones, claiming that other people, including his children and parents, had access to them.
Cybercrime experts were unable to access the phones, but Moir's computer was also seized and found to contain 14 separate videos.
Moir, aged 48, pleaded guilty in court to sexually assaulting a woman while she was asleep and incapable of consent, and to recording a woman in a state of undress while she was sleeping.
The victim expressed her feelings, stating she felt 'violated in my sleep' and had been left with trust issues.
The court sentenced Moir to a two-year supervision order, 200 hours of unpaid work, a six-month curfew, a three-year non-harassment order, and imposed notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act.
He is now listed on the sex offenders register.
