MAN WHO PUNCHED PREGNANT PARTNER IN THE STOMACH JAILED
A man has received a 14-month prison sentence following an incident in which he physically assaulted his pregnant girlfriend during a period of intoxication.
John Lacey, aged 42, assaulted his partner, who was 14 weeks pregnant, after a dispute at her residence in Newport.
During the court hearing, it was revealed that Lacey pushed, grabbed, and struck the woman, even pressing his fingers into her mouth before delivering a punch to her abdomen.
Fortunately, the unborn child was not harmed in the assault.
The victim’s adult son contacted the police, leading to Lacey being located hiding in a field nearby.
He pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm through assault and was subjected to a five-year restraining order.
The woman described the attack as traumatic, noting it has had a lasting impact on her mental health and personal well-being.
