JOHN KURSULIS: DANGEROUS SEXUAL PREDATOR FROM EAST KILBRIDE GUILTY OF DRUGGING AND RAPE
In a recent court case that has shocked the community of South Lanarkshire, a man named John Kursulis has been found guilty of heinous crimes involving the drugging and sexual assault of two teenage girls.The incidents took place in the towns of East Kilbride and Hamilton during the years 2016 and 2017, respectively.
During the trial held at the High Court in Glasgow, Kursulis, aged 28 at the time, maintained his innocence, denying all allegations brought against him.
However, the evidence presented was compelling enough to secure a conviction.
As the verdict was read, Kursulis was visibly emotional, breaking down in tears, a reaction that underscored the gravity of the charges he faced.
Following his conviction, he was remanded into custody, with a sentencing hearing scheduled for the following month.
The prosecution argued that Kursulis had deliberately administered or caused the victims to ingest substances intended to stupefy or overpower them, rendering them vulnerable to assault.
The first victim, who was only 16 years old at the time, was assaulted at a residence in East Kilbride in April 2016.
She recounted feeling an overwhelming heaviness in her body, which prevented her from standing.
She described the horrifying moment when she saw Kursulis, whom she described as laughing, attacking her.
The second victim, aged 17, was targeted in a similar manner at a house in Hamilton in May of the following year.
Both cases highlighted the vulnerability of the victims and the predatory nature of Kursulis, who exploited their trust and innocence.
Prosecutor Derick Nelson addressed the jury, emphasizing that both young women were taken advantage of by a dangerous sexual predator.
The court heard how Kursulis’s actions were calculated and malicious, causing significant trauma to the victims.
Judge Lord Armstrong deferred the sentencing to allow for the preparation of reports, with a new hearing scheduled for September 21.
As Kursulis was led away from the courtroom to the cells, he shouted in protest, claiming, “I didn’t do anything, man,” a statement that reflected his denial and the ongoing controversy surrounding the case.
