SERIAL RAPIST DANE O'NEILL SEEKS TO OVERTURN CONVICTION

A man jailed for eight years for raping three women has claimed he is innocent and the victim of a miscarriage of justice.

O'Neill was convicted in 2023 of a total of 11 charges including seven counts of rape at the High Court in Glasgow.

A jury was told he was physically violent and attempted to control his victims by monitoring their phones, social media, and bank accounts and attacked one woman while she slept in a hotel room.

From East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, O'Neill also was found guilty of a brutal assault on one woman's two-year-old son which left the toddler with horrific head injuries.

In a letter to the Daily Record from his prison cell at HMP Glenochil, sentenced serial rapist O'Neill said he was seeking to have his convictions overturned.

He added:"My case highlights significant flaws that have led to a miscarriage of justice.

"No DNA, forensic.

photographic.

IT or documentary evidence was presented.

"No credible or reliable witness testimony supported the allegations.

"I was denied the opportunity to present critical evidence in my defence." He also stated: "The reliance on this principle resulted in an unreasonable and unjust verdict.

I am a 23-year-old man with no prior convictions and was in full-time employment.

I have been imprisoned since 2021 for crimes that I did not commit.

"My case exposes severe flaws in the Scottish justice system." As per the judge Lord Clark, O'Neill's lack of remorse and blaming his victims made him "high risk" of reoffending.

Two victims also spoke out warning others that he is a danger, saying: "Stay well away from him - he is a danger to women and kids." The offences began when O'Neill was 16 and include raping a woman while she was asleep, repeatedly abusing her, and attacking her two-year-old.

One victim, supported by Women's Aid, said: "Every time it happened, he'd bring me chocolates, flowers and apologise.

He'd say he was going to change.

I'd forgive him and think it would get better but it never did, it just got worse.

I was constantly living in fear." O'Neill also assaulted another woman on various occasions, including choking, biting, punching, and kicking her, and instructing her to wear make-up to hide bruises.

The woman said: "He's a narcissist.

To finally tell people what happened is a weight lifted off my shoulders." He was convicted of these crimes and for injuring her two-year-old during an attack.

She said: "He is a narcissist.

To finally tell people what happened is a weight lifted off my shoulders." O'Neill, a former supermarket security guard, claims he was convicted under the Moorov Doctrine, which he considers outdated.

The judge Lord Clark referenced his lack of remorse and blame-shifting, citing this behavior as increasing his risk of reoffending.

The victims' warnings highlight the impact of his actions over a three-and-a-half-year period starting when he was 16.
