CONVICTED RAPIST JOHN HALL JAILED AFTER SPREE OF SHOPLIFTING ACROSS NEWCASTLE AND SUNDERLAND
A convicted rapist has been jailed for continuing to steal high-end goods from shops in Newcastle and Sunderland.John Hall, who was locked-up for rape in 2004, has a long history of shoplifting and repeatedly failing to register on the Sex Offenders' Register.
He was sentenced to 24 weeks in jail and ordered to pay £500 compensation to JD Sports and £320 to Fenwick.
Hall's offences include stealing £1,500 worth of clothing and fragrances from JD Sports, as well as shoplifting from Fenwick on September 27 and October 1, where he stole fragrances valued at £320 and tops worth £510.
Despite being on the Sex Offenders' Register since his 2004 conviction, he failed to inform police he was homeless and did not register since June.
Hall appeared in Newcastle Magistrates' Court to admit four counts of shop theft and failing to comply with registration rules, with the first offences on June 23 and July 3.
He has been in and out of jail since his rape conviction and is now back behind bars for these recent crimes.
