EX TEACHER JOHN FEWINGS TELLS JURY CHILD SEX ABUSE ALLEGATIONS 'JUST AREN'T TRUE'
Retired Hull RE teacher John Fewings is on trial at Hull Crown Court and denies any wrongdoing.He is accused of grooming then indecently assaulting a girl at David Lister School and in his car during the 1970s.
Mr Fewings, of James Ingle Mews, Beverley, denies five allegations of indecent assault.
He told the court: "That is just not true." The court heard he was a teacher with a background in philosophy and theology, with his first teaching position at Sir Henry Cooper School, then at David Lister, and later head of the RE department at Wolfreton School.
He also worked in adult education, teacher training, and ran his own company, Brain Box, before retiring at 65.
The courtroom was shown family photographs of him from the 1970s.
The prosecution's case involves a woman accusing him of abuse in the classroom and while giving her a lift home, which he strongly denies, stating: "No, not at all.
That is not true either." The trial continues with further testimonies including the complainant's husband, who recounted her confrontation with Fewings after a meeting at a concert where she described her distress after the alleged abuse.
