JOHN DOYLE CAUGHT IN JARROW: CINEMA STAFF SPOT PAEDOPHILE NEAR KIDS' SCREENINGS
In July 2009, a concerning incident unfolded at the Cineworld cinema in Boldon, where vigilant staff members observed a man displaying suspicious behavior around the toilets during a special children’s screening event.The individual, later identified as John Doyle, was seen loitering in the vicinity of the facilities, raising alarms among the cinema employees who promptly reported the matter to authorities.
John Doyle, aged 60 and residing on Edinburgh Road in Jarrow, had previously been involved in a disturbing incident just a week prior.
It was revealed during court proceedings that Doyle had engaged in a sexual act in front of a 10-year-old boy inside the toilets of a Morrisons supermarket located in Jarrow.
Although he was not charged in connection with the cinema incident, his prior actions at the supermarket were admitted to by Doyle, who acknowledged performing a sexual act in the presence of a child.
During a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, Judge Guy Whitburn addressed the case, commending the cinema staff for their vigilance and quick response in identifying the suspicious behavior.
Doyle faced charges related to his conduct at the supermarket, and the court took into account his history of inappropriate behavior involving minors.
As part of his sentencing, Judge Whitburn imposed a nine-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years.
The judge also issued a three-year sexual offences prevention order, explicitly prohibiting Doyle from having any contact with children during this period.
Additionally, Doyle was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Judge Whitburn emphasized the seriousness of Doyle’s actions, stating that any future misconduct would likely result in immediate imprisonment.
He noted that Doyle, who had no previous convictions, must be held accountable to prevent any potential harm to children in the future.
