AYR MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER OF PARTNER FROM THIRD-STORY WINDOW
A man, John Andrew Hoggans, 47, has been brought before Ayr Sheriff Court charged with assaulting his partner at an address in Mill Wynd on May 15 of last year.He is accused of grabbing the woman and attempting to force her out of a third-floor window.
The charge further alleges that he then struggled with her and tried to stab her in the eye with a fork, causing injury.
Court documents also state he breached a bail condition by approaching or contacting the woman at Fenwickland Avenue on July 29, 2023.
The charges are considered aggravated due to involvement with a partner or ex-partner.
Mr.
Hoggans, who listed HMP Kilmarnock as his address on the indictment, appeared via video link from custody.
His defence solicitor, Quentin Muir, indicated that Hoggans denies the first charge but admits to the second, though this would not resolve the case.
A trial was scheduled for later in the year.
All accused persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
