MUM AND HER TWO KIDS GUILTY OF MURDER AFTER BRUTAL REVENGE STABBING IN BLACKBURN
Joanne Maxwell, 47, her son Liam Donlin, 25, and daughter Amie Clegg, 22, “worked as a team” to plot the brutal slaughter of their relative Paul Scott on his doorstep in Blackburn. The trio lured Paul out of his home amid an “interest” between Maxwell and Paul, who had previously attempted to break up a fight Maxwell was involved in back in September 2024.
On June 22 last year, Clegg filmed her brother Liam stabbing Paul in the heart, resulting in his death.
Maxwell, Clegg, and Donlin were found guilty of murder following a trial, and Maxwell was also convicted of possession of a bladed article at Preston Crown Court.
Prosecutor Richard Little KC stated: “This was no accident.
This was a severe stab wound, deliberate, straight to the chest and heart of Paul Scott.
‘[Donlin] did it because his mum had a history with Paul Scott.” The court heard Maxwell recruited her son, a former kickboxing champion, after the issue arose.
Despite her urging, Clegg knew the intent was to kill Paul, and she later lied about her knowledge of his whereabouts and injuries.
Paul’s family described him as taken in an act of cruelty by a mother, her daughter, and her son, who filmed his last moments.
The verdict marked a long road towards justice for Paul, with his family thanking those involved in the conviction.
