JEYAKUMAR JEYARASA
Jeyakumar Jeyarasa, aged 59 and based in Coventry, was convicted of multiple offences spanning from October 2010 to September 2019.
He faced seven charges in total at Warwick Crown Court, which included encouraging a child under 13 to take part in sexual activities.
Additionally, police stated that he repeatedly engaged in sexual acts in front of his young victim.
Sentenced on 4 April, Jeyarasa was also ordered to register as a sex offender for a decade.
West Midlands Police reported that he had destroyed his victim’s phone after she recorded his voice and captured videos of the abuse.
However, authorities managed to repair the device, retrieving crucial audio and video evidence.
Detective Constable Richard Buckley commended the victim’s resilience, noting that Jeyarasa believed he had evaded justice by destroying evidence, but that was not the case.
He emphasized that Jeyarasa was manipulative, abusing his position of trust, and thought he had escaped consequences.
Buckley also highlighted the victim's bravery in coming forward and her determination to see justice served, despite the trauma she endured.
