SERIAL RAPIST JAILED FOR MURDER MONTHS AFTER BEING FREED
A convicted serial rapist who attacked a prostitute and murdered a drug dealer just months after his release from prison was sentenced to life imprisonment.Crack cocaine addict Jerry Williams was told he must serve a minimum of 25 years for butchering the dealer hours after raping a call girl at knife point in his flat.
Less than five months earlier, the 46-year-old had been released from prison after serving 12 years for raping four women in nearly identical circumstances during the early 1990s, when he used the alias Eugene Saunders.
At Birmingham Crown Court, Mrs.
Justice Cox described him as: "I regard you as an extremely dangerous individual who presents a high risk to the public and there is a real need to protect the public from you." Earlier that week, Williams sat expressionless as an all-male jury unanimously convicted him of murder, kidnap, rape, attempted robbery, and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The court heard how he lured a prostitute to his maisonette in Hunslit Road, Quinton, Birmingham, and held a 5-inch kitchen knife to her throat as he raped her.
Hours later, he drove her to Mr.
Jenkins's flat in Wolverhampton, intending to force her into a sex-for-drugs deal with the victim.
When Mr.
Jenkins, a father of five, heard about the prostitute’s ordeal, he called off the deal.
Williams then burst into his flat in a rage and stabbed Mr.
Jenkins 18 times in the head and upper body.
Mr.
Jenkins died in hospital shortly after the attack on August 8 last year.
Williams, who had been electronically tagged after his release from prison, was detained at Walsall Magistrates' Court later that day.
