NEWCASTLE SEX OFFENDER JEREMY HICKS BUSTED FOR BREACHING COURT ORDERS
Jeremy Hicks, 45, was jailed for two years in 2005 after admitting performing a sex act while sitting next to a seven-year-old girl on Whitley Bay beach.Less than a fortnight after his release, Hicks breached his five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order by loitering within 20 metres of a person under 18.
He was spotted standing four metres from a seven-year-old girl at Newcastle's Central Station, fixating on her.
He was arrested by PC Andrew Bates after being observed waving arms and shouting at a bus.
Hicks, who is on the sex offenders register for 10 years and on a two-year license at the time, also carried amyl nitrate and beer.
He cited being gay and using the drug as a sexual stimulant as a reason.
Magistrate Professor Reavley Gair found Hicks to be in breach of his order and remanded him until sentencing in the crown court.
Hicks was previously convicted in 2005 for performing a sex act in the presence of a child, resulting in a two-year jail sentence.
The incident at Central Station and his prior convictions underscore his ongoing risk and disregard for restrictions meant to protect children.
