MILTON KEYNES MAN JEFFREY TILBY CAUGHT WITH HORRIFIC CHILD AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY

In February 2016, Jeffrey Tilby, a computer programmer residing in Browns Wood, Milton Keynes, found himself at the center of a disturbing criminal case involving the possession and download of highly graphic and illegal images. The case was heard at Aylesbury Crown Court, where Tilby faced serious charges related to child exploitation and extreme animal pornography.

Tilby, aged 57 and described as balding, appeared in court to defend himself against allegations that he had downloaded over 2,000 images and video clips depicting the most severe forms of abuse, including children being raped and sexually assaulted, as well as disturbing material involving animals. During the proceedings, Tilby insisted that the illicit content had come to his attention accidentally, claiming that it was the result of pop-up advertisements and the use of insecure websites that he believed were vulnerable to hacking.

Prosecutor Stephen Willmer questioned Tilby about the nature of his downloads, asking whether his experience suggested a broader issue of adults inadvertently encountering child pornography online. Tilby responded, “I can’t comment on other people but I certainly found it myself,” implying that he had personally come across such material.

Further questioning revealed that Tilby had, on occasion, actively searched for depraved animal pornography, which included images of women engaging in sexual acts with snakes and dogs. Despite this, Tilby claimed he was primarily seeking images of women who appeared emotionally involved, although the court was skeptical of this explanation. Judge Francis Sheridan challenged Tilby’s reasoning, asking, “What on earth are you talking about when you say you’re looking for emotional women? How does that lead to animal porn, sex with snakes or dogs? What sort of emotions are you looking for?”

Tilby attempted to justify his actions by stating that most of the material involved Brazilian women performing acts for money, and that some women might be aroused by such acts. However, he admitted to possessing four counts of making indecent images of a child and one count of possessing extreme pornography involving animals, including both dead and alive creatures.

Investigators uncovered that Tilby had downloaded a total of 2,024 images of extreme animal pornography and over 1,000 images depicting child sexual abuse. All of these files had been deleted from his computer prior to the investigation, but forensic analysis confirmed their existence. The child abuse images were categorized into different levels of severity: 112 images in Category A, which depicted the most serious abuse such as rapes; 177 in Category B; and 765 in Category C.

Defense lawyer Simon Smith described Tilby as a “sad” individual with no prior convictions, suggesting that he could benefit from a rehabilitation program aimed at addressing his issues. Smith emphasized that Tilby was socially isolated and now fully aware of the gravity of his actions, noting that the authorities were aware of his behavior.

Despite these arguments, Judge Sheridan dismissed Tilby’s explanations, highlighting the horrific nature of the child abuse material that had been found on his hard drive. The judge pointed out that the content included images of young girls as young as five being raped, children as young as seven engaging in threesomes, and infants being abused. One particularly disturbing image involved a 12-year-old girl being raped by an elderly man.

Judge Sheridan expressed skepticism about Tilby’s claims of accidental discovery, stating, “This defendant has got some skills with computers and he’s hoping to use an out-of-date knowledge of how the internet works to say that this is an accident. I don’t believe that for a minute. The more and more he is pressed, the more obvious it becomes he’s relying on outdated understanding in the hope he can hoodwink the court into believing that they all popped up accidentally.”

He further condemned Tilby’s conduct, asserting that while he posed no direct threat to children, the harm was inflicted remotely by those who created and distributed such content. The judge emphasized the importance of strict sentencing to send a clear message that child abuse and exploitation are utterly unacceptable in society.

As a result of his convictions, Jeffrey Tilby was sentenced to eight months in prison. Additionally, he was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of ten years, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the need for ongoing monitoring and protection of the community.
