EX-RAINHAM COUNCILLOR JEFF TUCKER CHARGED WITH SEX OFFENCES

A former Havering councillor has been charged with historic child sex offences.

Jeffrey Tucker, who represented Rainham until 2022, is accused of sex offences against two girls under the age of 16.

Tucker, 65, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday (April 10) charged with rape, attempted rape, five counts of indecent assault and attempted indecent assault.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between 1987 and 1994 in Rainham.

Tucker was remanded in custody and will next appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on May 6.

Tucker was first elected as a councillor in 2002 and held the seat for 20 years.

Outside of politics, he owned Rainham Goldmine Jewellers in Upminster Road South.
