ALAN VINTEN FROM RAINHAM SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE COMMITTED NEARLY 50 YEARS AGO
A man identified as Alan Vinten, aged 78, from Otterham Quay Lane in Rainham, Kent, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of multiple child sexual abuse offenses that occurred nearly five decades ago.The crimes, which took place during the 1970s, involved the repeated assault and unlawful sexual acts against a young girl who was only nine years old at the time.
According to reports from Kent Police, the abuse was carried out over a period of approximately one year.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, finally came forward and reported the incidents in November 2021, decades after the abuse took place.
The case was brought to trial, where Vinten was found guilty of eight separate charges, including indecent assaults and unlawful intercourse with a minor.
The sentencing occurred at Maidstone Crown Court on a recent Friday, where Vinten was handed a prison sentence of 17 years.

Det Con Laura Bowness of Kent Police issued a statement condemning Vinten’s actions, describing him as a predatory paedophile who subjected his young victim to a campaign of terrifying and appalling abuse.
She emphasized the courage it took for the victim to come forward, noting that she only recently found the strength to give evidence in court after years of suffering in silence.
