JAYCE SIMPSON SENTENCED IN JEDBURGH FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
2026: THE trial of a Jedburgh man accused of breaching his sexual offences prevention order has been put back until May 19 at the town’s sheriff court.Thirty-three-year-old Jayce Simpson denies the charge.
2025-12-08 08:02: A SEX offender who admitted deleting internet browser history from his mobile phone without permission from his supervising officer has been ordered to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
Jayce Simpson, 30, who previously was jailed over indecent images of children and communicating indecently with a child, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened at his home in Hartrigge Road, Jedburgh, on May 31.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told Simpson had breached the terms of his five-year sexual offences prevention order by deleting a Google Chat he had been having with an individual.
The police had been aware that he had been on Google Chat but when they visited his home it had been deleted from his phone which he was not allowed to do.
Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence for 12 months for good behaviour and said when the case is recalled on June 17, 2024, a community-based disposal would be imposed if he managed to stay out of trouble.
But he warned if there are any further breaches of the sexual offences prevention order then a jail sentence would be almost inevitable.
Defense lawyer Ed Hulme said his client had been involved with the chat with two females from another country and had sent photos of himself and he got more sexualised material in return.
But he added that when they started demanding money he panicked and deleted the conversation.
Mr Hulme said: "He realises the court enforces these orders very seriously and knows he should not have done it." The case was deferred to June 17, 2024, with the possibility of a community-based sentence if he remains trouble-free.
